League Meet and 7 Marathons on 7 Continents

In Uncategorized on October 24, 2010 at 4:30 pm

Well hello all!
It is once again that time of the week where you get to sit back and enjoy everything that I am going to tell you! Whether you find it relative or not! Although most of it is probably going to be relative, because you wouldn’t have asked for these email updates if you did not want to read about how I was doing! So shall we get on with it?
This week has been super long and super tiring. I was sick all week and still have a slight congestion going on in the upper head area, headache, nose stuffed a little, but overall I feel a lot better than I did on Monday when one of my bosses tried to send me home from work (which I didn’t do because I still had class to go to), Tuesday when my other boss actually sent me home from work, and Wednesday when the same thing happened again! But rest assured I did work a total of 4 and a half hours this week! So I am contributing to the Eastern Washington Reading Education Department in some way shape or fashion! And hey I got two paychecks this past week (the first I had to go pick up and didn’t receive a call to do until after I already had it in my possession) and the second came yesterday! Have they been put in the bank yet? Of course not, who do you think I am? Definitely gonna try and go tomorrow, but tomorrow is my long day… although I do live quite close! We shall see!
Anyways, I think I mentioned maybe I would have 3 tests this past week? Well in a sense I did. I had a Calc test on Thursday, which went okay, think I did fairly well on most of it. Physics test was on Wednesday, that went well. I know I missed part of the second problem, but the rest I am fairly confident was right. I didn’t have a test in that Linear Algebra class of mine, but the third so called “test” was a playing test in piano! I played… oh what did I play? Let me grab my book! Ode to Joy! It went pretty well, really don’t get graded for it, as long as you play a Solo in class! So that went well!
I feel like there isn’t a lot that happened this past week otherwise… OH! Running! I got new Vibrams Fivefingers (they are these toe shoes) and I am having some mixed feelings about them. Really do enjoy them, I run faster in them than my other shoes (might be because they are light weight) I haven’t gone more than 3 miles in them, but hopefully they work out! My roommates and I have started what I affectionately call “Roommate Running” which in all reality is we all go for a run at the same time. Amanda and Kylie stay together more than I stay with them for the obvious reason that I am faster. But it’s been fun! Kylie hasn’t done a lot of running since high school, and Weaver (Amanda) goes on occasion still! So it’s just been a good way to keep me out on the roads as well!
Lindsay Pilon came for a quick visit from Montana this weekend. She came Friday and left yesterday early afternoon. It was good to see her! We went to Red Robin and I tried the Mt. Olympus Burger and it was delicious a must try if you like feta cheese!
Reading… I am not sure if it was this past week that I finished a book… The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan I think it was! Anyways great young adult book! Still working my way through the Temple of the Winds (The sword of Truth book), but I have started well a couple more… Bought one on my Kindle Personal Record: A love affair with running. Good so far, but I am not more than two pages in! I also got Second Wind by Cami Ostman! Great book! She is a friend of Linda Vadset’s and she ran a marathon on every continent! I will one day do this just for all of your references!
Oh more on the running front congrats to the Tomahawks! Most finished their seasons yesterday at the League meet in Lakewood! WE have 4 continuing on to the District meet at South Whidbey! Good luck to you guys! I am always cheering you on! Even when I cannot be there!
Anyways! Not too much else to talk about this week! I hope you are all doing well!

Jingle Bells and Some Books

In Uncategorized on October 16, 2010 at 2:23 pm

Ah! The early morning times, I miss them…
I have been up for over two hours now, and I haven’t been able to fall asleep. This time of the morning is so tranquil and peaceful… When I am done here I think I will throw on a layer and head out for a run!
Well… I would say that this week was a pretty uneventful week as far as anything school related goes, and well just in general!
School was just a little tiring, we continue to plug through each of my courses, and to be honest we may have a test in all three of my intensive courses this week, Physics on Wednesday, Linear algebra Friday and Calc on Thursday? Do not quote me on that, but if I am remembering my schedule correctly that would be the week to come! It will be quite a brutal test week if that is so! I wish there were more to say on the front of Piano, it continues to go well! I really do enjoy it, I will by no means be a master of it by the end of this quarter, but hope to at least have some basic skills by the time I am done with the year!
Work continues to go well, it is much the same as last year, helping in the childrens library and Darcy. If you could all keep her in your prayers that would be wonderful, her mom is getting on in years, and she left Thursday to be with her these past few days.
Hmm… well running, I got in some running this past week and am excited about it. Obviously I ran the half marathon that you all heard about the other day, and well I signed up for another one! The Seattle Half Marathon on the 28th of November, the Sunday after Thanksgiving, and the day that I would have to return to school! I hope to get a new medal and bib number to add to my wall of fun!
As you are also aware (because of the Jingle Bell Emails you have been getting) I will be running the Seattle Jingle Bell run on December 12! Along with hopefully many of you! See that email for more information!
There is a second Jingle Bell Run in Spokane that I will also be participating in the Saturday before Thanksgiving break! So I will run a 5k then as well! If you want info on that and will be in the area let me know!
Reading this past week, well I started another book! Didn’t finish the last yet, I tend to take breaks from the Sword of Truth Series now and again to clear my head of it and then charge back into it, plus I usually find other reads that hold my attention more and I can get through them faster! The Lost Hero my Rick Riordan is the latest read that I have picked up and it is fantastic so far! Good for Taner perhaps along with the Percy Jackson series!
Some of you may have heard that I was not feeling at all well on Thursday night. Really just kind of crummy, I feel a lot better now, but not at my best! Something with allergies and sinuses going on, I did get some meds though so hopefully those work for me!
Anyways I think I will be off for a run! Take care!

Tomahawk Twilight Invitational and a Half Marathon

In Uncategorized on October 12, 2010 at 12:29 am

Wow! What a busy couple of weeks it has been! Thanks to Linda for sending me the reminder to send this!

Well it is now Monday at 5 pm and I have just finished my third (second in reality) physics lab! Last week we had a fire alarm go off in the middle thus ending our second lab and sending us home! Since you last heard from me I have actually been through three Mondays of school! Crazy it is already flying by! I have had two tests (one in either of my math classes) On the Calc exam I forgot one of the equations that I was supposed to be using so missed quite a deal of points from that… On my linear algebra I got a 72, not a terrible showing… Physics I have my first test a week from this Wednesday (quite late I know). Piano is going well! I have my third class tomorrow and I am so excited for it! It is really fun! Maybe I will be playing by the end of the year! That would be great!

So the reasons for not getting an email last weekend (first weekend of October) is that I was actually over in Marysville for the Tomahawk Twilight Invitational, a high school cross country meet hosted by Marysville-Pilchuck where I help to coach and it is one of the meets in the year that I would not miss for the world! So I hopped on a plane and headed over to help! I was on the golf course for 8 hours Friday after running on the new track and the new field at the high school (which are fabulous) followed by 16 hours on Saturday for the meet! IT was such a fun trip and the Tomahawks know how to put on a meet (I would know since I have either run or helped each of the 4 years!). Anyways the reason that this is now late is that I ran a half marathon yesterday! Which some of you did not know. So I ran the Spokane Half in 1 hour 44 minutes and 8 seconds. Which is not a PR but I was not training for this race and just hopped in to have some fun with it! It ended up going much better than expected! Add that as the second Half Marathon that I have now run as with the one full Marathon that I have completed! Many more to come!

Reading I read one full book this past week by one of my favourite authors Darren Shan. If I have talked about him before you will know that he is a master of horror. His main series that I started reading eons ago was Cirque du Freak and about vampires (it was out before twilight and his vampires are much scarier and nicer in fact). Anyways he has now written one of four prequels to that series based on one of the Vampires in the first series! So I finished that book in a day! And am continuing to read the fourth book of the Sword of Truth Series!

Anyways I feel like this email update is all over the place! So I will let it be for now and try to make it better next time!
